Advanced Care During Medical Transport
Spirit EMS Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulances provide a higher level of medical care for patients whose condition requires advanced monitoring, treatment, or intervention during transport.
ALS ambulances are operated by either a Paramedic or an EMT-Advanced, based on the patient's medical condition and specific medical requirements during transport. This allows the level of care provided to be matched to the individual needs of the patient.
Paramedic-staffed ambulances are equipped to manage more complex medical needs, including mechanical ventilator transport, advanced airway management, 12-lead ECG monitoring, intraosseous access, surgical cricothyrotomy, and other specialized procedures when clinically necessary.
EMT-Advanced teams can monitor heart rhythms, administer normal saline through an IV, provide a variety of medications for non-cardiac conditions, and monitor the electrical activity of the heart throughout transport.

Cardiac Monitoring
ALS personnel can monitor heart rhythms and electrical activity, with Paramedic units capable of performing 12-lead ECG monitoring.
IV & Medication Support
EMT-Advanced personnel can administer normal saline through IV access and provide medications within their level of care during transport.
Ventilator Transport
Paramedic-staffed ambulances are equipped to transport patients who require support from a mechanical ventilator.
