Miami University Work+ Program

Work+ with Spirit EMS allows you the opportunity to complete and obtain a valuable EMT certification and employment while you are pursuing your degree at Miami University.
TUITION BENEFIT
Paid tuition for one year at the Miami Regional in-state rate, if program requirements are met.
WHAT WE DO?
Spirit EMS has seven stations (Celina, Defiance, Greenville, Houston, soon to be Troy, Van Wert, and Liberty, IN (just 12 miles west of Oxford) throughout Ohio and Indiana. Don’t miss out!
TRAINING INFORMATION
December 16-19, 2024 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
January 6-9, 2025 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
January 13-16, 2025 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
January 21-24, 2025 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
EMT classes will take place at a Clinical Health and Science Facility,
Room CHS 0202 (421 South Campus, Oxford, OH 45056).
INCLUDES in-person classes for four days in December before holiday
break and 11 days in January (before Spring 2025 semester starts).
EMT classes are instructed through Four County Career Center, in
partnership with Spirit EMS.
REQUIRES 2080 hours of employment and completion of some
assignments and lessons outside of class, including 16 hours of
mandatory clinical time (uncompensated).
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?
Starting salary rate: $13.00 per hour (paid during class).
The program runs for 150 hours of total class time for a few
days in December and most of January over winter break, and
you’ll need to then commit to 2080 hours of employment.
Salary upon obtaining EMT certification: $16.00 per hour
Additional earnings: working special events that pay up to
$30.00 per hour (during the summer)
Performance-based raises and perfect attendance raises.
Students may potentially be able to earn up to 7 credit hours.
