The Miami University Work+ Program, in partnership with Spirit EMS, provides college students the opportunity to earn a valuable EMT certification, gain paid employment, and receive tuition support while pursuing a degree through Miami University.

EMT TRAINING
Training Information
The Work+ program begins with an intensive EMT training experience designed to prepare students for certification and employment with Spirit EMS.
IN-PERSON TRAINING
Greenville, Ohio
In-person EMT instruction is conducted five days per week during the training program.
HYBRID OPTION
Online + In-Person Labs
A hybrid option may be available with online coursework and required in-person Friday labs. Online course time is unpaid.

PROGRAM COMMITMENT
Employment & Program Requirements
Work+ combines EMT education with a meaningful employment commitment designed to give students real-world experience while attending college.
Complete EMT Training
Successfully complete the six-week EMT training program and required coursework.
2,080-Hour Commitment
Commit to 2,080 total hours of employment with Spirit EMS.
Minimum Weekly Hours
College students, depending on course load, must commit to working a minimum of 24 hours per week, typically across two shifts.
Flexible Additional Hours
Additional work may be available when a student's academic schedule allows, including semester and school breaks.
Coursework & Assignments
Complete all required assignments and lessons outside of scheduled classroom instruction.
Clinical Experience
Complete 16 hours of required clinical time. Clinical hours are uncompensated.
BUILT AROUND COLLEGE
Flexible Scheduling
Scheduling is designed to accommodate academic responsibilities. Students must have set, reliable blocks of time outside of their class schedule available for work.

Students may have opportunities to work additional hours during semester breaks and summer or winter breaks based on availability and operational needs.
